SALfreshVSO-68 is produced in less than 75 minutes after harvesting the salmon. The entire production process is carried out without overheating so as to avoid oxidation and prevent the valuable omega-3 fatty acids turning rancid or switching to their trans–form, which is proven to be harmful.
A special antioxidant concentrate called Polarox™ is added, which is a unique proprietary blend of rosemary extract and tocopherols, as an extra insurance against oxidation and rancidity.
Totox is an international standardised measuring value that indicates the degree of freshness or rancidity in fish oil. The higher the Totox value, the more rancid the oil is. GOED, the international fishing industry´s interest group, has set an upper Totox value of 20, while the EU´s pharmacopeia sets a limit of 30.
A large study published in 2010 analyzed over 110 omega-3 products available at Norwegian pharmacies, supermarkets and health-food stores. Only three products on the market had Totox values under 20, of which none where fish oil. SALfreh is on top with a Totox value under 2. A fantastic result! (Rubin report no. 196, October 2010)
